Fall is approaching and you know what that means, it’s the start of the busiest time of the year, school starts. Holidays are ahead of us and a lot of parties with friends and family need to be planned out. And have you noticed that when things start getting you busy, you tend to forget to take care of yourself. A lot of the time I forget to eat, don’t know what time it is and forget the day of the week. I know you have the same or similar experiences during this busy time of the year too

But don’t you worry any more, to help you get ready and to stop forgetting to take care of your well-being, today I’m sharing my 5 Tips to Staying Active This Fall, just before all the wonderful events begin.

Don’t you agree that we all need to start practicing self-care now and continuing it throughout the busiest time? If not now, we will make up some excuses and we will never make time to take care of ourselves.

 Life Update

Before we get into the tips, I want to chat a little bit more about my growing family. I don’t know about you, but I feel like this year, in particular, has gone by a lot quicker than ever. Maybe because my life is surrounded by my babies. It’s not just only me or only my husband and me anymore. It’s so true when people say that time flies so fast when you have kids because it’s happening to me and my husband every single day. We sometimes don’t want our kids to get bigger because we just want to enjoy all the beautiful infant and toddler moments with them. I’m tearing up typing this right now!

The other day we went shopping with my oldest daughter, she would normally be sitting in the cart and watching us shop. Now she’s helping us picking all the grocery and even picking her snacks. She’s such a big girl and a big helper. Not to brag but she’s the best daughter and the best sister ever! I got her, her first adidas outfit (adidas Toddler Trefoil Tee, adidas Children Originals Leggings, and adidas Toddler Baseline Shoes) and she can’t stop wearing them. She loves that she and I are wearing the same brand. I think I’m going to get her more matching outfits and start having her modeling kids clothing with me. Just can’t wait to start shopping and dressing her up to share all the cute pics with all of you! J

I shared a few photos of Alida below and after the cuteness, let’s dive into today’s post.

5 Tips to Staying Active This Fall

1

Drink water

I’m a sucker at drinking water, to be honest. But I’m making some changes now by making sure that I am drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. As you know, you won’t be able to function right without hydrating yourself. My tips on how to get your water in are 1) have a 1 littler water bottle next to you all day. 2) Drink the whole bottle by noon time, refill it and drink the rest before you go to bed. This way you will get your 8 glasses in each day for sure.

2

Eat more fruits and vegetables for snacks

When going shopping make sure you get plenty of fruits and vegetables to munch on each day. Pick fruits and vegetables that you can easily snack on while working or on-to-go. Prep your snacks a week in advance in individual packages so you can grab them as you go. This way you can save more time and not need to have an excuse to pick up unhealthy snacks.

3

Workout first thing in the morning

This is the best thing that can get your active day going, workout first thing in the morning. When working out in the morning, you’re not only getting your physical activity done but you are giving yourself a great start to your day. I found that when I wake up early to get my workout in, I am a lot more energize and ready for the day to come. This requires a lot of self-motivation as waking up early to workout is not always the easiest thing to do. But I believe in you. A quick tip is to set your alarm 15-30 minutes before your normal day starts and make it a new healthy routine.

4

Easy yoga poses before bed

After a long busy day, try to unwind with easy yoga poses before bed. I found that by doing some simple yoga poses like Tree Pose, Corpse pose, Reclining Bound Angle Pose, and Lotus Pose can help calm you down. Doing yoga right before you sleep will help you to get a well-rested night and wake up feeling more recharged. Find yoga poses that are comfortable for you to do as there are many of them to choose from.

5

Take a deep breath and relax

Every time you feel stress or things are starting to get out of control, doing some breathing exercises will help you to feel better again. I do this all day long. Lol! It really does help to calm your mind and body down. Try doing this, Jason Selk’s breathing technique, take a deep breath in and hold it for 6 seconds, hold it for 2 seconds and exhale for 7 seconds. After doing this you will be calmer and more focused on what you are doing.

What’s in my hiking bag? | 5 Tips to Getting A Good Hike in This Summer

I’m so lucky that I’m living in a place where mountains and hiking trails are everywhere. It won’t be hard for you to guess what activity I would do to help me staying active. Correct, it’s hiking!

During Summer my husband and I would go on our hike as early as possible in the morning. You know, the weather here in Arizona can get pretty hot and it can hurt your body if you don’t have good preparations for your hike.

During Summer my husband and I would go on our hike as early as possible in the morning. You know, the weather here in Arizona can get pretty hot and it can hurt your body if you don’t have good preparation for your hike. We would normally take a quick 30-60 minutes hike.  If the weather is nice, we would take a longer one.

In today’s post I’m sharing with you What’s in My Hiking Bag and the 5 Tips to Getting A Good Hike in This Summer.

Before I’m showing you what I have in my bag, I wanted to talk about this cute backpack I got from adidas. I love that it a mini backpack, that’s very convenient to carry around and it can fit so many items. I almost couldn’t decide which one to get as they have a few cute ones that I’m eying on, Faux Leather, Santiago in Black and Iridescent.

For what I wear when going on a hike, I love to wear comfortable Adidas outfit like this one I’m wearing today, high-rise long tights, a cotton jersey tee, a pair of comfortable sneakers,  baseball cap and sunglasses. I’m a big fan of Adidas, so if you catch me somewhere, you probably would see me in my adidas outfit. 🙂

Now, let’s see what I’m bringing with me in my hiking bag.

  1. Water Bottle – filled with water of course
  2. Sunscreen – both lotion and spray
  3. Face essence spray
  4. Mirror
  5. Wipes
  6. Deodorant
  7. SPF Chapstick
  8. Sore Throat Drop Lozenges – I normally carry candy
  9. Pen
  10. Tint lipstick
  11. Hairband
  12. Sunglasses
  13. EarPods
  14. Cell phone
  15. Card cases – with ID, insurance cards & credit cards

Those are all the stuff I packed in my bag. What’s in your bag?

Now that you know what’s in my hiking bag. It’s time to talk about how you can make your hiking trip a little safer and more meaningful.

5 Tips to Getting A Good Hike in This Summer

1

Drink plenty of water

Make sure you’re drinking enough water before, during and after your hike. Water can keep you hydrated and make you feel refreshed while hiking. You don’t want to be dehydrated as this can lead to a life-threatening situation. A mild dehydration can also give you a headache, dizziness and more symptoms. If you could bring one big bottle of water or a few small bottles with you, especially water with Electrolytes, this will help keep your body happy during your hike. Electrolytes help with controlling your fluid balance, regulate your blood pressure and even help your muscles contract, including your heart!

2

Always wear sunscreen, hat and sunglasses

Before you go on your hike, make sure you put on sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you leave the house. This is to ensure you get the full protection benefits of your sunscreen. If you’re on a long hike, you should reapply the sunscreen at least every two hours and choose SPF 30 or higher for extended outdoor activities.

You should wear a hat when going on a hike as it will help provide protection against the harmful sun rays.

Sunglasses are also a must have item as they protect your eyes against the sun’s UV rays, “blue light” from the solar spectrum, and they will make you have a more comfortable vision by not having to squint.

3

Walk fast to raise up your heart rate

Going on a hike doesn’t always mean you get your walking in for the day. You have to make sure that your steps are fast enough to raise up your heart. This can help your cardiovascular system work more effectively. But when hiking up a steep incline, be sure to watch your steps and take your time. The extra effort of hiking up hill will raise your heart rate without needing to walk fast. You know your body’s limits!

4

Listen to good music

Music is medicine for the soul. I love listening to good music while going on a hike because it helps to wake me up from a sleepy mode to an active mode. Music has its power to help reduce stress and improve your workouts. If you’re walking up hill and you’re feeling like it’s quite hard, try listening to some faster pace music or turn up your tunes so it can help you get to the top easier and faster.

5

Use this time to practice gratitude

This is the time you can use to acknowledge yourself of what you’re grateful for. A gratitude walk or hike will make you feel more positive and relaxed afterwards. While you’re on your hike, try to think about things you are grateful for. Say thank you and don’t be afraid to say them out loud. Use this time to connect with yourself, nature and create positive energy.

5 Favorite Healthy Vegan Snacks On Amazon

5 Favorite Healthy Vegan Snacks On Amazon

I’m shopping on amazon for almost everything now. I really love the convenience and products in all categories. Sometimes it’s cheaper to shop there as well. Recently, I found 5 of my favorite healthy, non-dairy and vegan snacks on there. So I want to share them with you in this post.

I

am on a healthy, non-dairy and vegan snack hunt for the past few months, and man they’re so many good snacks on the market. As I try to eat healthier after discovering that I’m hypoglycemic and shouldn’t be eating sweets all the time, I tried cutting out all of my sweet treats and only pick healthier choices. With this symptom, you have to eat often as well. So I need some good treats to keep my energy up all day.

Finally I found my favorite treats and I’ve been living off them everyday. I’m sure you can find them at your local supermarket. But if not, all of these snacks can be found on Amazon.com. All of the snacks I picked are non-dairy with three of them being labeled as vegan.

If you ready for some healthy snacks, let’s dive in.

1

Bobo’s Oat Bars

This is a good treat when you‘re craving sweets as I found this oat bar is the sweetest out of my 5 snacks. It’s vegan and organic. Great for a morning or afternoon snack.

2

KIND Bar Dark Chocolate Almond Mint

This is my favorite protein bar that contains different kinds of nuts and tastes so delicious. They have so many flavors but the ones I like are  Dark Chocolate Almond Mint and Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate. These bars contain honey. So if you’re a vegan who consume honey, these bars will be a great source of protein for you.

3

Nuttzo Organic Crunchy 7 Nut And Seed Butter

I have been eating this nut butter for years. It’s delicious and contains 7 kinds of my favorite nuts and seeds, Cashews, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Flax Seeds, Chia Seeds, Hazelnuts, and Pumpkin Seeds. It’s made with non-GMO and organic ingredients.

I love eating mine with apples. I can snack on them all day everyday.

4

Organic Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups by Justin’s

These dark chocolate peanut butter cups are so yummy. It doesn’t say that it’s vegan as it’s produced on equipment that also processes milk. But when looking at ingredients there’s no animal products listed as its ingredients.

5

Inka Crops Inka Plantain Chips

If you love some crunchy snacks that have low carbs, make sure you check out these plantain chips. They come in a variety of flavors. Easy to snack and it’s a healthier option when it comes to chips. This product is non-GMO, vegan and organic.
