I’m so lucky that I’m living in a place where mountains and hiking trails are everywhere. It won’t be hard for you to guess what activity I would do to help me staying active. Correct, it’s hiking!

During Summer my husband and I would go on our hike as early as possible in the morning. You know, the weather here in Arizona can get pretty hot and it can hurt your body if you don’t have good preparations for your hike.

Keep on reading because in today’s post I’m sharing with you What’s in My Hiking Bag and the 5 Tips to Getting A Good Hike in This Summer.

This post has been sponsored by adidas. All opinions are my own.

I’m so lucky that I’m living in a place where mountains and hiking trails are everywhere. It won’t be hard for you to guess what activity I would do to help me staying active. Correct, it’s hiking!

During Summer my husband and I would go on our hike as early as possible in the morning. You know, the weather here in Arizona can get pretty hot and it can hurt your body if you don’t have good preparation for your hike. We would normally take a quick 30-60 minutes hike.  If the weather is nice, we would take a longer one.

In today’s post I’m sharing with you What’s in My Hiking Bag and the 5 Tips to Getting A Good Hike in This Summer.

Before I’m showing you what I have in my bag, I wanted to talk about this cute backpack I got from adidas. I love that it a mini backpack, that’s very convenient to carry around and it can fit so many items. I almost couldn’t decide which one to get as they have a few cute ones that I’m eying on, Faux Leather, Santiago in Black and Iridescent.

For what I wear when going on a hike, I love to wear comfortable Adidas outfit like this one I’m wearing today, high-rise long tights, a cotton jersey tee, a pair of comfortable sneakers,  baseball cap and sunglasses. I’m a big fan of Adidas, so if you catch me somewhere, you probably would see me in my adidas outfit. 🙂

Now, let’s see what I’m bringing with me in my hiking bag.

  1. Water Bottle – filled with water of course
  2. Sunscreen – both lotion and spray
  3. Face essence spray
  4. Mirror
  5. Wipes
  6. Deodorant
  7. SPF Chapstick
  8. Sore Throat Drop Lozenges – I normally carry candy
  9. Pen
  10. Tint lipstick
  11. Hairband
  12. Sunglasses
  13. EarPods
  14. Cell phone
  15. Card cases – with ID, insurance cards & credit cards

Those are all the stuff I packed in my bag. What’s in your bag?

Now that you know what’s in my hiking bag. It’s time to talk about how you can make your hiking trip a little safer and more meaningful.

5 Tips to Getting A Good Hike in This Summer

1

Drink plenty of water

Make sure you’re drinking enough water before, during and after your hike. Water can keep you hydrated and make you feel refreshed while hiking. You don’t want to be dehydrated as this can lead to a life-threatening situation. A mild dehydration can also give you a headache, dizziness and more symptoms. If you could bring one big bottle of water or a few small bottles with you, especially water with Electrolytes, this will help keep your body happy during your hike. Electrolytes help with controlling your fluid balance, regulate your blood pressure and even help your muscles contract, including your heart!

2

Always wear sunscreen, hat and sunglasses

Before you go on your hike, make sure you put on sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you leave the house. This is to ensure you get the full protection benefits of your sunscreen. If you’re on a long hike, you should reapply the sunscreen at least every two hours and choose SPF 30 or higher for extended outdoor activities.

You should wear a hat when going on a hike as it will help provide protection against the harmful sun rays.

Sunglasses are also a must have item as they protect your eyes against the sun’s UV rays, “blue light” from the solar spectrum, and they will make you have a more comfortable vision by not having to squint.

3

Walk fast to raise up your heart rate

Going on a hike doesn’t always mean you get your walking in for the day. You have to make sure that your steps are fast enough to raise up your heart. This can help your cardiovascular system work more effectively. But when hiking up a steep incline, be sure to watch your steps and take your time. The extra effort of hiking up hill will raise your heart rate without needing to walk fast. You know your body’s limits!

4

Listen to good music

Music is medicine for the soul. I love listening to good music while going on a hike because it helps to wake me up from a sleepy mode to an active mode. Music has its power to help reduce stress and improve your workouts. If you’re walking up hill and you’re feeling like it’s quite hard, try listening to some faster pace music or turn up your tunes so it can help you get to the top easier and faster.

5

Use this time to practice gratitude

This is the time you can use to acknowledge yourself of what you’re grateful for. A gratitude walk or hike will make you feel more positive and relaxed afterwards. While you’re on your hike, try to think about things you are grateful for. Say thank you and don’t be afraid to say them out loud. Use this time to connect with yourself, nature and create positive energy.

3 Products to Help Get Rid of Acne Scars and Make Your Skin Glow

3 Products to Help Get Rid of Acne Scars and Make Your Skin Glow

I have been using 3 new skincare products for a few months and noticed the improvements in my acne scars. It’s so incredible that these 3 products, I happened to pick out at random, are working so good together. I only use them at night by layering them on top of each other. I shared my acne story in this post with my old photos where you can see how my acne scars looked like.

Plus a quick review on each product. So make sure you read more in this post to find out the story and what products I recommend you to try.

I suffered from cystic acne since my teenage years. I would get this type of acne almost every month before my period started. It wasn’t too bad though during that time because I got maybe a few of them on my chin.

But in 2011, it was the worst year of my acne life!! I got them all over my face. I was working late hours at night and super early mornings where I only had a few hours to sleep per day. I ate really bad and wasn’t drinking enough water. About 3 years ago, it’s been slowing down which I was so happy about. I tried to figure out why I got them and found out that it wasn’t the hormone changes that caused this type of acne in my case but it was my unhealthy habit of being so stress, not getting enough sleep and eating unhealthy meals all the time.

After I changed my diet to not having dairy products, eating less meats and trying to balance my work and life routine, things started getting better than ever. The pimples would come once in a while. But I noticed that if I had something unhealthy, in like 24 hours I would get pimples. Weird, right? I now can predict my future pimples when they will pop out on my skin. I think that’s my special power! Lol!

Since the acne problems are gone, the main problem I’m currently dealing with is my acne scars. In the past years, I tried so many skincare products that claims to help with the improvement of my scars, I could see some improvements but they weren’t going away completely. But a few months ago, I tried these three products, Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil2% BHA Liquid, and Vitamin C serum, and my acne scares are 99% gone. These products are so incredible. I love layering them for better results.

I love using all of these products together at night. When I wake up in the morning, my skin is glowing, super soft and so hydrated. I’m so loving the results that’s why I wanted to share them with all of you.

Btw, I have my old photos at the end of this post so you can see how my skin looked.

Below are my reviews on each products.

Product #1

Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid

I use this Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) after cleansing and applying my toner. It helps to exfoliate dead skin cells and even skin tone. It doesn’t dry out your skin and it absorbs very quickly. This exfoliant has an optimal pH range of 3.2–3.8 which makes it very gentle and suitable for daily use.

I use it two times a day but sometimes I only use at night. I love that it doesn’t burn my skin or give a tingling sensation.

This is what they recommend on how to use it. Apply once or twice daily after cleansing and/or toning. Lightly soak a cotton pad and apply over the entire face, including the eye area (avoid lash line and eyelids). Do not rinse. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater.

Product #2

C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil

If you’re here all the time, you should know that I’m a big fan of face oils and when I say this face oil is good, it means you need to try it ASAP.

I tried so many face oils and fell in love with almost all of them. But I try using this Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil with the other two products I mentioned in this post and I see the best results for my acne scars.

I love that this oil is a mix of turmeric and evening primrose oil. These two ingredients help to brighten, hydrate and make your skin glow. No kidding!

Turmeric is well-known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties. I have been using turmeric powder in my masks and scrubs for over 20 years and I love how it treated my skin.

Since I found this oil, I wanted to experiment with it and so glad I did because this oil is super hydrating, and gives my skin a beautiful glow.

I use this oil only at night and I layer it after my 2% BHA liquid.

Side note, if you’re not a big fan of a green and oil smell, you might want to slowly introduce it into your routine because it doesn’t have that fresh, sweet or pleasant scent to it.

I wrote a post about “10 Must Try Face Oils“, you can check them out if you are looking for a new face oil for difference concerns.

Product #3

Boost C15 Super Booster Concentrated Serum

This is the product that can be mixed with your other skincare products like moisturizer or serum. I mix it with my face oil above and I only use a few drops at a time. This serum would last me for at least 3 months. So worth the money spent.

I really love this Paula’s Choice C15 Super Booster serum as it contains a highly concentrated form of vitamin C and an assortment of skin-stabilizing antioxidants like vitamin E and ferulic acid and skin-replenishing ingredients.

It helps with the appearance of uneven skin tone, brightens a dull complexion and helps ward off the appearance of environmental assaults.

I can feel my skin is getting smoother, brighter and so radiant in the morning.

If you are looking to try something to get rid of your acne scars that works, try my nighttime skincare routine and see the results for yourself.

Here are my photos for your reference. The first on the left was me in 2011 and the second one one the right was me in 2016. These two weren’t the worse of my acne story but you can see that I had pimples on my chin, nose and cheek in the first photo. I actually had them on my forehead as well that’s why I tried covering them with my bangs.  But my worse acne story was the one that I had them on my eyelids, armpits and other parts of my body. Yikes! I’m not planning to welcome them back anytime soon.

My extra tips for you here are to try to change up your diet to see if that would help reduce your acne. Try to avoid eating animal fat, dairy products, and stay hydrated at all time. The water will help flush out all the toxins, instead of pushing it through your skin and coming out with acne. These small changes will help your skin tremendously. But if it’s uncontrollable within your power, just take a trip to see a dermatologist near you to get the right treatment plan in place.

What’s your secret when dealing with acne scars?

I hope this post is helpful and gets you excited to try to take care of your acne scars in the right direction. These three products are my go-to skincare items I’m using every night. I see benefits thats my skin is getting so I want you to give them a try yourself.

Those 10 years of battling acne has taught me to take better care of myself both mind and body. It was a lot to deal with during those years but I’m definitely grateful to have clearer skin now.

Thank you for stopping by All About Good Vibes today. I have a lot more beauty content awaiting to share with you on my future posts.

5 Reasons Why Branding Is Important

5 Reasons Why Branding Is Important

Today, I’m welcoming my web designer, Aleksandra Rogala-Jacek, who has helped me trasformed my blog and brand to the next level. I asked her to share her thoughts on the 5 Reasons Why Branding Is Important. She’s an expert in this area, so make sure to get some reading in.

Branding is a HOT topic among entrepreneurs, but there seems to be a lot of confusion around it. Not many people can actually confidently say they understand what branding is and with so many branding resources available everywhere the fog only thickens, doesn’t it?

Well, today I’m here to bust the myth around what branding is and tell you why it’s so important for your business + how to do it well. Ready to dive in?

Branding = logo?

When you hear the word “branding” you probably think about the logo, the color palette and selection of fonts, don’t you?

Those are just elements of the brand identity, which is only a part of the branding actually.

So what is branding? To put simply, it’s a method of making people feel a certain way about your brand. This includes things like the selection of your products or services, your tone of voice, your photography, your brand personality, your customer service and even your marketing strategy. The visual aspect of branding like your website and logo are important, but they are NOT the branding themselves.

To create proper branding you first need to define what your brand stands for, who’s your ideal audience and how you’d like them to see you.

This means you need to dive deep into your business and create a smart strategy behind it. Once you do that, whatever you create afterwards will surely be purposeful and consistent with the overall idea of your brand.

Sounds complicated? It isn’t! I even created a free resource to take you from confusion to clarity using our design studio’s signature discovery process.

5 reasons why branding is important

Now that you understand branding is a strategy behind your business + different ways to communicate it, it’s time to see why it’s so important and how it can absolutely transform your brand.

1. It adds credibility

Would you trust a hairdresser who’s hair is neglected with your own? I wouldn’t. And so would many other people.

When you see a lack of consistency you lose trust. When you see a brand who hasn’t invested time, energy and effort into their branding, you subconsciously think they are not worth your investment either (cause they probably don’t treat their business seriously).

Just like in real life, trust is built with consistency. When I see a person is true to herself in different situations, I know what to expect of her = I know I can trust her.

When your potential customers can see your brand is inconsistent, without a strategy behind it, it plants a seed of doubt which will be very difficult to overcome. People do not tend to open up and connect with people who make them feel that way.

With branding done right, your audience sees your business as thought through, purposeful, trustworthy and worth the investment both time and money. They see you’re here for the long run and they feel more comfortable buying from you, working with you and refer their friends to you. That’s a huge thing if you ask me.

2.  It gives you clarity

Since branding is based on strategy, if you’ve done it right you would have gone through the discovery process and defined your brand’s purpose, personality, voice and ideal customer.

This gives you incredible clarity around things that usually can be tricky to get right. It gets easier to decide which social platforms to be active on, what sort of content to create to attract the right audience and then what to do to get them ready to buy from you.

Everything starts falling into place and you’re not spinning around in circles. Instead, you can move confidently and grow your brand purposefully. Whenever you need to make a decision that will impact your business (like creating a new course or product) you can simply go back to the strategy and ask yourself: is this aligned with my brand? Do my people need it? Will it get me where I want to go?

The answer will come to you a lot quicker when you know you’ve built your brand’s fundaments.

3.  It connects you with the right people

Can you confidently say who your ideal audience is? Our signature discovery process resource is packed with powerful questions to help you make sure you do.

When you understand your audience pain points, doubts and mindset blocks it gets so much easier to meet them where they’re at a build a meaningful relationship with them.

You know exactly what feelings you need to evoke to help them connect and engage with your brand. You know which words and visuals to use to set the right expectations and help them trust you. You know what type of resources and content to create to attract them and when they do land on your website, you can make them feel like your brand exists specially for them.

This makes growing a community and selling more of your products and services so much easier! Instead of trying to appeal to everyone and wasting your efforts on people who do not care about what you have to offer, you attract only those who are the perfect match for your brand.

4.  It makes it easier to promote and grow your brand

With so many possibilities to get the word out, which one do you chose? Which social media platform is the best for you? Should you use Facebook ads or make better use of Pinterest? What about an email list?

Should you create a sales funnel, and if so, what kind? What about video? Insta stories? IGTV?

Getting a headache yet?

The truth is all those strategies are great, but they may not all be great for you. When you create a strong brand strategy though, it gets easier to choose the right one for you.

You know where your ideal audience spends their time and what sort of content they prefer to consume. You know what freebies they download and what sort of support do they need.

You also know what products are they interested in and if they are emotional shoppers who make a decision on the fly, or if they need a little bit more persuasion before they use their credit card.

You can understand what you need to do to take your ideal customer from merely a lurker to an engaged member of your community and a customer.

No more wasted effort of trying to do all the things and being everywhere.

5.   It helps build an experience

Great branding makes people remember your business and talk about it with their friends. From the very first moment they get in contact with your brand they need to be met with a consistent experience.

You can set expectations about your brand through your copywriting, photos and visuals and then provide a service or product that is consistent with this expectation (or better!).

This creates a brand experience that builds trust and is worth remembering and sharing. It creates raving fans and helps spread the word about your brand in the best possible way – through satisfied people!

Where do you start then?

Before you start browsing Creative Market for a new logo or even hire a designer, always do the homework first. Building strong fundaments will save you months (if not years) of wasted effort and going around in circles. It will help you build a strong brand presence people will remember, understand and relate to

By getting clear on your brand’s purpose, personality, mission and vision + your ideal audience you’ll speed up the process of building an engaged community that’s ready to hear from you, buy from you and tell all your friends about you.

Start here and have fun building your own, unique brand!

9 Must Have Flat Lay Backdrops

9 Must Have Flat Lay Backdrops

In today’s post I’m going to talk about my favorite backdrops I use for my flat lays. The below items are what I found to be easy to find and incorporate into your photo.

A lot of the items on my list, you can probably find in your home already. They are affordable and you don’t need to go above and beyond to get them.

I love working on my flat lay photos as they bring a lot of creativity out of me. Whenever I want to make my photo simple but yet relatable to everyday life, I tend to use items around me to create backdrops for my flat lays.

The items I’m about to mention are the things I’m sure you can find in your home. You can work with them even if you have a small corner to work on your photos. I love everything on this list, and I hope you find them helpful in your upcoming flat lay photo session as well.

If you are ready let’s dive into it.

1.

White Table Top

This is the basic and the one must have item for almost everyone who enjoys taking flat lay photos. It’s easy to incorporate, and won’t steal the scene of your main products.

2.

Bedsheet

I love using white bedsheets for all kinds of flat lays. It doesn’t need to be covering your bed though but it can still replicate the “on my bed” mood.

3.

Blanket

This might sound weird to say that I recommend you to use your blanket as a backdrop. But it’s not weird to me as I use it often in my photoshoots. It is a perfect item to use, if you’re planning to take a photo that needs a lot of empty space. It will also be good if you need a backdrop thats big enough to fit all of your props.

4.

Magazine

I love using magazines as they already have pretty designs or pretty faces on them. This is a great backdrop for an effortless style.

5.

Couch/ Chair

I took a picture on my couch and talked about flat lay tips on my previous post, “One Rule To Achieving A Prettier Flat Lay“. You can see here as well that I use my couch as a backdrop for different products I’m shooting. Give your couch or chair a try, as you will see that this furniture pice would do a great job as a flat lay backdrop.

6.

Marble Top

I love marble but it’s very expensive to buy a big marble table if you don’t have one already. You can use contact paper with a marble design instead. It comes in a lot of patterns and colors. I found mine on Amazon.

7.

Cutting Board

I love using cutting boards as my backdrop when I have to create content around food ingredients and nature focused photos. I got my cutting board from Bed Bath & Beyond.

8.

Wrapping Paper

This is a good choice when it comes to the holiday season or DIY project photos. They come in many different designs which you can find the one that matches your overall photo theme.

9.

Interesting Texture

Find interesting textures around you. For example, faux fur, fluffy sweaters, straw bags, lace fabrics, and more. They will help with the depth of the photo.
