Happy Self-care Sunday!

I wanted to share with you my 3 Healthy Cookbooks for better health and wellness that I am currently loving. My husband and I love to cook and we found that getting new cookbooks helped us with coming up with interesting menus.

This week, I wanted to focus on salads as they are very easy to make and filled with nutrients for your body. Read on to find out what are the three books I recommend.

Each one has great recipes that are good for you, promotes a healthy lifestyle and create good vibes energy. It’s important to have a healthy lifestyle if you want your Mind, Body, and Soul all to be in sync. Creating a space for your body to thrive in, whether that be through the food you eat or the activities you do, will keep you staying healthy and positive to go up against challenges you face.     

 

That’s why I am sharing with you these 3 Healthy Cookbooks I am currently loving because I want to help you keep a healthy lifestyle and be ready for any challenge life throws at you.

This book is by far my favorite of the three. It has beneficial recipes that promote clean beauty and wellness. What’s different about this book is the deeper meaning of the ingredients it goes into. From crystals to beauty routines and individual benefits of specific food ingredients, this book has it all to create a positive mindset for radiating beauty.

Like the first book, this one is about a lifestyle set on clean beauty. Its foreword by Gwyneth Paltrow and talks about her philosophy of living a Goop lifestyle. Its gives healthy food recipes, workout exercises, skincare routines and more.

 

3.

This cookbook is perfect if you want to make something delicious with only 5 ingredients. I love this book because I can quickly look for a style of food, chicken, fish or veggie and find a delicious recipe to cook. Each recipe takes anywhere from 5-40 minutes to make and is easy to do.

    Superfoods have helped me to not only feel healthier but have also provided great benefits to my skin. I can already see the improvements by just switching to some healthier food options.

      Avocados

      The great thing about avocadoes is that they are full of so many benefits. According to Livestrong.com, Avocados contain a lot of antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats. Vitamin E and vitamin C help protect against free radicals, which are created by your skin during the day through oxidative stress. Biotin, which is part of the B complex vitamins and is also contained in avocados which helps to protect against dry skin and red rashes. Avocados contain healthy poly and monounsaturated fatty acids, both of which guard your skin against sun damage and also makes it moist and soft.

      Coconut Oil

      In an article by purefiji, Coconut oil has tons of skin benefits. Coconuts are naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and moisturizing. The fatty acids found in coconut oil nourish your skin making it feel plump and soft while increasing its elasticity. Vitamin E, in particular, keeps your skin feeling smooth and protected from free radicals. You can use it as a makeup remover without having to be afraid of damaging your skin with harsh chemicals. Not only that, but coconut oil has anti-aging properties too.

      Tomatoes

      The great thing about tomatoes is that they help with many skin concerns. According to healthline.com, they help with both uneven skin tones and signs of aging. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a carotenoid, that has shown signs of powerful anticancer effects. Also, they treat skin problem related to sun damage and scarring.

      Almond Milk

      Like tomatoes, Almond Milk also has anti-cancer properties. In an article by StylesAtLife.com, almond-milk is a great source in fighting off cancer-causing cells. Also, the anti-bacterial and anti-infectious properties help stop the spread of harmful bacteria. Almond milk contains vitamin E and A which helps to promote healthy and glowing skin. If you have dry skin, almond milk is great in moisturize your skin for a more hydrated and smoother feel.

      Apple Cider

      Apple cider vinegar is packed with antioxidants. An article from lifehack.org mentioned that the antioxidant properties of apple cider vinegar can help slow down aging and reduce free radicals. It also helps maintain the stability of the acid-base balance in our bodies.

      Blueberries

      Blueberries are rich in antioxidants that not only fight free radicals but help fight signs of aging. In an article by stylecraze.com, blueberries antioxidants, along with vitamin A and E fight off free radicals to keep skin looking healthy. Also, they have salicylic acid, which helps to unclog pores and remove dead skin for blemish-free looking skin. Not only that but the fiber contained in blueberries helps to prevent your body from expelling yeast and fungus through your skin.    

      Turmeric

      With almost all other superfoods, turmeric contains loads of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. This makes your skin naturally glow and fight against free radicals. According to healthline.com, turmeric can positively impact tissue and collagen. The curcumin found in turmeric helps to even skin tone and heal acne scarred skin. It can also reduce redness from blemishes and help to calm different skin conditions such as eczema.

      Are you ready for Fall? I just can’t believe that Fall is so close and Summer is halfway over. Before you know it, it will be the busiest time of the year and you might forget about taking care of yourself.

       

      In today’s blog post I am sharing with you how to stay active when life gets busy so you will have a great start to the new season. Your body and mind depend on you staying active. So get yourself in a new routine before it’s too late.

      Fall is approaching and you know what that means, it’s the start of the busiest time of the year, school starts. Holidays are ahead of us and a lot of parties with friends and family need to be planned out. And have you noticed that when things start getting you busy, you tend to forget to take care of yourself. A lot of the time I forget to eat, don’t know what time it is and forget the day of the week. I know you have the same or similar experiences during this busy time of the year too

       

      But don’t you worry any more, to help you get ready and to stop forgetting to take care of your well-being, today I’m sharing my 5 Tips to Staying Active This Fall, just before all the wonderful events begin.

       

      Don’t you agree that we all need to start practicing self-care now and continuing it throughout the busiest time? If not now, we will make up some excuses and we will never make time to take care of ourselves.

       Life Update

      Before we get into the tips, I want to chat a little bit more about my growing family. I don’t know about you, but I feel like this year, in particular, has gone by a lot quicker than ever. Maybe because my life is surrounded by my babies. It’s not just only me or only my husband and me anymore. It’s so true when people say that time flies so fast when you have kids because it’s happening to me and my husband every single day. We sometimes don’t want our kids to get bigger because we just want to enjoy all the beautiful infant and toddler moments with them. I’m tearing up typing this right now!

       

      The other day we went shopping with my oldest daughter, she would normally be sitting in the cart and watching us shop. Now she’s helping us picking all the grocery and even picking her snacks. She’s such a big girl and a big helper. Not to brag but she’s the best daughter and the best sister ever! I got her, her first adidas outfit (adidas Toddler Trefoil Tee, adidas Children Originals Leggings, and adidas Toddler Baseline Shoes) and she can’t stop wearing them. She loves that she and I are wearing the same brand. I think I’m going to get her more matching outfits and start having her modeling kids clothing with me. Just can’t wait to start shopping and dressing her up to share all the cute pics with all of you! J

      5 Tips to Staying Active This Fall

      Drink water 

       

      I’m a sucker at drinking water, to be honest. But I’m making some changes now by making sure that I am drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. As you know, you won’t be able to function right without hydrating yourself. My tips on how to get your water in are 1) have a 1 littler water bottle next to you all day. 2) Drink the whole bottle by noon time, refill it and drink the rest before you go to bed. This way you will get your 8 glasses in each day for sure.

      Eat more fruits and vegetables for snacks

      When going shopping make sure you get plenty of fruits and vegetables to munch on each day. Pick fruits and vegetables that you can easily snack on while working or on-to-go. Prep your snacks a week in advance in individual packages so you can grab them as you go. This way you can save more time and not need to have an excuse to pick up unhealthy snacks.

      Workout first thing in the morning 

      This is the best thing that can get your active day going, workout first thing in the morning. When working out in the morning, you’re not only getting your physical activity done but you are giving yourself a great start to your day. I found that when I wake up early to get my workout in, I am a lot more energize and ready for the day to come. This requires a lot of self-motivation as waking up early to workout is not always the easiest thing to do. But I believe in you. A quick tip is to set your alarm 15-30 minutes before your normal day starts and make it a new healthy routine.

      Easy yoga poses before bed

       

      After a long busy day, try to unwind with easy yoga poses before bed. I found that by doing some simple yoga poses like Tree Pose, Corpse pose, Reclining Bound Angle Pose, and Lotus Pose can help calm you down. Doing yoga right before you sleep will help you to get a well-rested night and wake up feeling more recharged. Find yoga poses that are comfortable for you to do as there are many of them to choose from.

      Take a deep breath and relax

      Every time you feel stress or things are starting to get out of control, doing some breathing exercises will help you to feel better again. I do this all day long. Lol! It really does help to calm your mind and body down. Try doing this, Jason Selk’s breathing technique, take a deep breath in and hold it for 6 seconds, hold it for 2 seconds and exhale for 7 seconds. After doing this you will be calmer and more focused on what you are doing.

      Happy new week! This week I wanted to talk about hydration and the benefits of drinking water. I found that to be able to take good care of yourself, you need to pay attention to every part of your body and hydration will help with that.

       

      As you know that self-care practice is super important nowadays and in every stage of your life. If you start practicing self-care at a younger age you will look and feel better than people who start theirs years later. With this being said, drinking enough water will help your skin and every part of your body to feel happier and fresher.

       

      For me personally, water is my worst enemy. I grew up not drinking a lot of water and I thought I was fine. Even though I got dizzy sometimes, but I didn’t know that was because I was dehydrated.  I knew I was suppose to drink at least 8 glasses of water, but I still didn’t make it as a must each day. I never knew the dangers of dehydration until I moved to Arizona.

       

      Since being in Arizona, drinking enough water is very important. However, for me it’s so hard to drink plenty of water each day as I was not use to the mentality of drinking water and I usually get caught up in my day that by the end of the day, I forget I need to drink something!

       

      After learning about the many benefits of drinking water, I wanted to start taking care of myself more in this area. Even though I’m bad at drinking water, I found ways to drink at least 8 glasses of water and have been doing that for a few weeks now.

       

      In today’s post I share the benefits of drinking water with you. I hope this will inspire you to drink more water. Below, I have listed 15 benefits that I found from Medical News Today. You will find that by just drinking enough water each day, you are giving your body the most important ingredient to keep it functioning properly and to help prevent sicknesses.

       

      According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, women should be having around 11.5 cups and men should have around 15.5 cups of water each day.

      15 benefits of drinking water

      1. Makes your joints healthier. Your joints are made of 80% water and drinking water will help to lubricate them.
      2. Maintains your saliva and mucus. We need saliva to digest food and mucus to keep the inside of our nose healthy. Also, drinking water keeps your mouth clean and can reduce tooth decay.
      3. Delivers oxygen throughout your body. Our blood cells are over 90% water and our blood can help carry oxygen to different parts of our body.
      4. Makes your skin healthier and more beautiful. By not drinking enough water, your skin can be vulnerable to skin disorders and premature wrinkling.
      5. Let’s your brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissue function properly. With prolonged dehydration, you can suffer from thinking and reasoning problems.
      6. It controls your body temperature. We sweat to cool off our body when we get too hot. Not having enough water can lead to a lower tolerance to heat strain.
      7. Your digestive system needs water to work properly. Not drinking enough water can lead to constipation, over-acidic stomach and increased risk of heartburn.

      8. You need water to not only sweat but to remove urine and feces.

      9. Blood pressure is dependent on the amount of water in your veins. To little water can make your blood thicker and thus causing increased blood pressure.

      10. It makes your airways more open. Too little water can make your body start to restrict your airways to minimize water loss. This can lead to asthma and allergies.

      11. Water makes it possible for us to digest the minerals and nutrients that our bodies need.

      12. Your kidneys need water to function properly and help to regulate fluids in your body, too little and your chances of having kidney stones increase.

      13. It can help with performance during exercise. Some scientists say having enough water before a workout can increase performance and not having enough will lower your performance.

      14. You can have a better chance of losing weight if you drink plenty of water before a meal. By “preloading” on the water before eating, you can prevent overeating and create a sense of fullness.

      15. By alternating your alcoholic drinks with unsweetened soda water with ice and lemon can reduce your chance of overconsuming alcohol.

      2. Have the water bottle near you at all times.
      3. Finish the first bottle by lunch.
      4. Make your water taste and/or smell good.
      5. Remind yourself why it’s important to drink water.
