Ten Midweek Self-Love Reminders

Today, I am sharing with you some of my favorite midweek self-love reminders to help you go through your week mindfully and respectfully.

Read on and enjoy!

Either it’s good food, good books, good laughs, or good rest that can get you through a tough week, make sure you do them. Your life is too short to stress over things that you can’t control. But you have the power and control over yourself.

Some times I found myself wandering around in my head. Dreaming and wishing, I could do more things and do it all in one day. Other times, I wish for a day to have more than 24 hours without realizing that what if it magically happened, would I have more time to take care of myself, or still spend those extra hours to stress even more.

All that we can do now is to do our best and appreciate what we already have. I wanted to share with you some quotes I found that are great reminders to practice self-love and self-care.

Five Simple Keys to Measuring Your Personal Growth

Five Simple Keys to Measuring Your Personal Growth

Each of us has our own and unique personal growth process, and no one is growing faster than the other.

The primary keys I see in my personal growth are from dealing with unexpected changes and a few more keys. I will go through each key and share with you how I develop my growth from it.

Read on to learn more!

snack bar decor idea for your home

Before we get into today’s post, I want to mention that this post comes from my perspective and is not from a personal growth theory you can find from a textbook.

Each of us has our own and unique personal growth process, and no one is growing faster than the other. There should not be any comparison when it comes to personal growth at all. Our life is developing and involves different environments and circumstances, and we will expand our personal growth uniquely. Also, there is no age limit for personal growth as well. As the world is changing all the time, it can challenge you to awaken your growth.

The primary keys I see in my personal growth are from dealing with unexpected changes. Learning new lessons (from talking to other people, reading new books, or getting inspired by things around me), experiencing new situations, setting goals, and practicing self-acceptance are the most important ones.

I will go through each key and share with you how I develop my growth from it.

five keys to measuring your
PERSONAL GROWTH:

One:

dealing with unexpected changes

This is the most common situation that can take you to the next level of your personal growth. Because when you experience an unforeseen event, your emotions will be on a roller coaster ride, which might make you feel uncomfortable. You will need to try ways to deal with that particular situation. This leads to growth.

One of the unexpected changes that I have been dealing with lately was my income stream from being a content creator during COVID 19. Instead of stressing over it, I came up with new ideas to generate income and connected with my audience differently. Instead of promoting brands/ products, I shared more of my honest reviews. Coming up with a new series #InfluencerTipsTuesday to share knowledge about social media. I also have more time to finish up my clean skincare brand, From Plants Beauty.

You can see here that one unexpected change can affect you in so many ways, but you can overcome it and develop your personal growth in many areas of life.

snack-bar-decor-idea-allaboutgoodvibes.com-Mollie-Larsen-@curatedbymollie

Two:

learning new lessons

Learning new lessons or skills is another measurable indicator when looking into personal growth. You can learn new things from talking to other people, reading new books, or getting inspired by things around you.

Learning is an important key to strive for the next level of your personal growth goal as it can direct you to better you in so many ways.

I tend to learn new things or adopt some new beliefs when I find good books that were recommended by someone I trusted. I also learn from people’s past experiences, and their stories, ups, and downs, before they became successful in their areas of expertise.

After learning new skills, I adapted to my personal liking and daily living environment. To ensure that I can implement what I learned to better my life in general.

Three:

setting goals

While setting goals might sound too simple, it does help you achieve and develop personal fulfillment growth. Repeatedly setting goals will get you on the right path of making things happen in life. Either it is a personal matter or a business-related matter, it is a healthy routine to have.

I found myself getting things done easier when setting goals. I also feel delighted when achieving the goals I have set. If you are trying to achieve or develop any areas of your personal growth, you should write down the steps it takes, or write down your goals as a guide and reminder.

My latest experience with goal settings that was fulling my personal growth was launching my brand, From Plants Beauty. For serval years, I put it aside before I finally had goals written down and plans in place. Without setting goals and writing down plans, I won’t have been able to make my business come true. Thanks to goal-setting, I was able to achieve launching my clean skincare brand and fulling one part of my personal growth.

Four:

experiencing new situations

New situations mostly come with challenges. If you can accept, adapt, and overcome those challenges and obstacles, that right there is called personal growth.

I posted on my Instagram yesterday that when dealing with obstacles in life, you should remember that:⠀

1) every problem has a solution.⠀
2) there will always be sunshine after the storm.⠀
3) it won’t last forever.⠀
4) your life depends on you, so take care of yourself first.⠀
5) to not be afraid of asking for help.

One of my personal growth in experiencing new situations was when I had to travel to the US for the first time, being on a plane for the first time in my life and by myself. I had to learn a new culture, langue, and way of living even though it was only a short three months of summer working at Universal Studios in Florida. I cried a lot as I was homesick and wanted to go back to Thailand. In the end, I ended up staying a week longer than I thought, as I enjoyed working and loving the new adventure.

Those experiences then taught me so much. After the work and travel program ended, I strived for more success and was able to revisit the US as an MBA intern student for a year.

I wanted to achieve my English speaking skills, which I can proudly say I met that. Now, over a decade later, I am a US citizen and now living with my loving husband and two daughters.

Almost forget to mention that I am communicating with you through my blog in English! That’s a significant accomplishment for me.

Five:

practicing self-acceptance

One of the biggest problems we are all facing in any stage of life is accepting who we are as a person. We all tend to be harsh on ourselves, even when we have accomplished many things in life already.

If you don’t practice self-love or self-acceptance, we won’t be able to develop our personal growth as quickly as we would, as it is a great key to identify the areas that we need to improve.

My latest self-love practice was accepting my post-pregnancy body and striving to make it better and healthier on my own path. I was able to complete an eight-week workout program, where I worked out as planned every day for eight weeks.

As I mentioned earlier, to be able to grow within you, you have to accept who you are and be able to clearly identify the part of you that needs more attention and implement that along the way until you reach your growth.

One last note to take into consideration when measuring your growth is comparison. If you want to compare with someone (even you know it is not good to compare), you should only look at people who are in a lower position than you, not those who already have it all.

It is an excellent way to remind yourself that you are doing fantastic, and you should keep on going to become like someone you aspire to be.

Share with me:

What is a personal growth tip you would like to share?

I hope these five simple keys will help you measure your personal growth and guide you in the right direction. There are more ways to measure and grow; any other means you find helpful, I hope that you find the ones that will help you become fulfilled and accomplished in life during any stage you are in.

HEALTHY EATING IS A PART OF SELF-CARE.

- Molly Larsen | allaboutgoodvibes.com

If you are ready to learn about Healthy Eating Tips, Habits, Ways to Save Money backed by scientific research, let’s get into each of the tips.

SELF-CARE:
FIFTEEN HEALTHY EATING TIPS

Tip #1: Cook Your Meals

I love cooking my meals with my husband. It’s such a fun and great way to stay healthy. When you prepare your meals, you know what’s going into your food and how much. Also, you are learning new dishes to make and, after some practice, can make your food taste more delicious than eating out.

Research done by PubMed, found out that making home-cooked meals promotes better mindfulness, allows you to choose higher quality ingredients and connect with your loved ones. It found that adolescents who cooked meals with their families every week were less likely to get into trouble with drugs and alcohol.

Tip #2: Drink Plenty of Water

I can’t say enough how important it is to drink plenty of water. Not only is it vital for your life, but it helps to keep your body working correctly. Drinking lots of water helps to flush out impurities, makes you feel fuller, and has zero calories. Always try to have water with your meals, as this is a great way to cut carbs from high-calorie drinks such as processed juices and sodas.

According to Medical News Today, drinking water has several benefits. Water helps to deliver oxygen to your body, boosts skin health and beauty, flushes body waste, and it helps to maintain blood pressure. They go on to say that by drinks 8-10 glasses of water a day helps boost performance during exercise and helps with weight loss.

Tip #3: Eat Smaller Portions

A straightforward trick to healthy eating is to eat smaller portions of food. The old saying is true that your eyes are bigger than your stomach. By having only a half portion when eating out or making smaller portions at home, you are reducing the number of calories and choosing to eat healthier.

In an article by ConsumerReports.org, when presented with a large portion of food makes you more likely to eat all the food on your plate even if you are not that hungry. They say, “Serve yourself less food, and you’ll eat less, and lose weight as a result.”

Tip #4: Choose a Variety of Fruits and Vegetables

I love eating fruits and vegetables as they are not only healthy for you but taste delicious when you prepare it right. Having a variety of fruits and vegetables is a great way to get different vitamins and minerals in your diet, and looks beautiful when cooking.

According to Sharecare.com, by eating a variety of fruits and vegetable, you are giving your body more vitamins to be nourished. They say that by eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, you dramatically decrease your chances of dying early by 53%!

Tip #5: Don’t Go for Food When Stressed

This is something that affects a lot of people, including my husband and I. When you start feeling a little stressed, try to stop yourself from eating that bag of chips or plate of cookies. A little self-control and finding something else to deal with your stress will keep you on the path to healthier eating.

On Helpguide.org, they say, “Compounding the problem, you stop learning healthier ways to deal with your emotions, you have a harder and harder time controlling your weight, and you feel increasingly powerless over both food and your feelings.”

Tip #6: Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth With Healthy Snacks Like Fruits and Nuts

A great way of dealing with stress eating is substituting unhealthy foods with fruits and nuts. Nuts are high in protein and low in calories, while fruits have lots of natural sugars that are much better for you than refined, processed snacks.

According to Feelgoodco-op.org.uk, Not only are Nuts are high in fiber and a good source of protein, minerals, and vitamins, but they contain essential fatty acids, which the body needs for good health, and monounsaturated fat, which helps to lower cholesterol. They go on to say that eating dried fruits “are rich in easily absorbed fruit sugar, which has an alkaline reaction and neutralize the acids formed in the body by foods such as meat and eggs.”

Tip #7: Read Labels

When my husband and I go shopping, we always read labels to make sure what’s inside the food we are about to buy. You will be surprised by what’s inside the food you get at the store. Try going for foods that have ingredients you can pronounce and know what it is. A good rule of thumb, the lesser the ingredients, the better.

On Nurishinyeractive.comthey say that “food labels can help you limit the amount of fat, sugar, and cholesterol in your diet by making it easy for you to compare one food item with another and choose the one with lower amounts. Conversely, you can use food labels to find food items higher in vitamins, fiber, and protein.”

Tip #8: Choose Healthy Fats

You might think, why chooses fat at all? Isn’t it bad and should cut it out completely? Not exactly, healthy fats are essential for a functioning immune system and provide support to your joints. Eating healthy fats found in nuts and avocados are great substitutes for fried oils and saturated fat.

According to Heldguide.orgHealthy fats, “Lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. Lower bad LDL cholesterol levels, while increasing good HDL. Prevent abnormal heart rhythms. Lower triglycerides associated with heart disease and fight inflammation.”

Tip #9: Eat Lean Meats

When eating a healthy diet, choosing lean meats is vital. Find meats that have little to no fat and pick for skinless chicken. By doing this, you are reducing your intake of saturated fat, which is the most unhealthy fat you can consume.

Medicinenet.comsays that lean meats are loaded with complete protein. They’re rich in iron. They’re a good source of B vitamins, particularly B12. They contain less saturated fat than higher-fat cuts of meat.

Tip #10: Adopt the Mediterranean Diet

I love trying different kinds of foods and diets, and having a Mediterranean diet is perfect for healthy eating. It consists of seafood, which is high in omega-three fatty acids and fresh vegetables. By limiting your carbs, you are allowing your body to burn fat and regulate your fat intake to more healthy levels.

In an article by Helpguide.org, “A Mediterranean diet can help fight against heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes, and cognitive decline.” They go on to say that a Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Tip #11: Eat Slow

Eating slow is such a great technique that works wonders. When you eat, trying taking a bite of your food and waiting until your thoroughly chew and swallow your bite. By doing this, you are reducing the chance of overeating and keeping your calorie intake stable.

According to Precisionnutrition.com“The benefits of slow eating include better digestion, better hydration, easier weight loss or maintenance, and greater satisfaction with our meals. Meanwhile, eating quickly leads to poor digestion, increased weight gain, and lower satisfaction.”

Tip #12: Plan Your Meals

Almost every week, my husband and I always plan out our meals so we know exactly what we need to buy when we go grocery shopping. It not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but saves you money at the grocery store because you know what you need to purchase and how much. Also, planning out your meals helps you to understand what your going to have and make sure you don’t overeat.

In an article by Beaumont.orgplanning your meals helps you to learn portion control, eat healthier, save money, save time, and avoid wasting food. Not only that, “Planning meals and snacks ahead of time increase the chance for success, it increases the likelihood a healthier food choice will be made.”

Tip #13: Don’t Go Hungry

This one might sound strange, but what I mean is don’t go too long without eating. When you are starving, you tend to eat more food, then you should. Going hungry can lead to extra calories and disrupts a balanced immune system. You want to eat regular, small portion meals to keep your body in balance and functioning well.

According to Piedmont.org“Skipping meals can also cause your metabolism to slow down, which can cause weight gain or make it harder to lose weight.” They also note that your body starts craving food and increase your chances of overeating.

Tip #14: Don’t Shop When You are Hungry

You might have done this before, but when shopping for food while hungry makes you get more food than you need. It also makes you buy foods that aren’t good to eat. It’s always a good idea to go grocery shopping on a full stomach and prepare a list so that you save both money and time.

According to a study confirmed by livescienc.com, “grocery shopping when your stomach is rumbling is probably not a good idea. To hungry shoppers, high-calorie foods may be more tempting than usual, the researchers said.” They asked 68 people to go without eating for 5 hours before online grocery shopping. Half of the participants were allowed to snack before shopping. They found that by being hungry, you were more likely to pick higher-calorie foods.

Tip #15: Shop at the Farmers’ Market

I love going to farmer’s markets when I can because it’s a great way to support your local community and eat nourishing foods. Also, it’s a great way to explore other kinds of fruits and vegetables you have never seen and to eat produce that’s in season.

In an article on Farmersmarketcoalition.orgshopping at a farmers market supports healthy communities while promoting sustainability. By shopping at a farmer’s market, you learn directly from the source how to cook the food you bought and what benefits they provide.

Self-Care 101: What you need to know about self-care | Self-Care Sunday

Self-Care 101: What you need to know about self-care | Self-Care Sunday

Happy Self-Care Sunday!

In today’s post, I wanted to share with you what is self-care exactly, the history, the importance, the different types of self-care and some tips on how to start practicing self-care today.

Read on to find out more about it.

I remember growing up practicing self-care every day, back then you didn’t call it a self-care practice, all I know was I was taking care of myself in the area of body, mind, and soul.

I would do a body scrub and face mask almost every day of the week. I would sing, watched movies, read magazines, and find new books to read whenever I had a chance to. I would write poems and songs when I felt like it. I would play Thai musical instruments or an electronic keyboard to make me happy. I would dance when dressing up when no one was watching me. I would pray and meditate every night before I went to bed. I would go for a walk with my mom in the early morning before going to school. I would enjoy my mother’s freshly made food. I would meet my old friends to catch up with what was going on in our lives.

Not until I gave birth to my first daughter when I completely stopped what I used to do to take care of myself. She is my priority. I still got up, washed my face, took a shower, and ate somewhat better than usual. I started to taking care of myself again when my daughter was 9-month-old and tried to get back in shape.

As a mother of two small children, it’s quite hard to find time to balance hours between work and life. But I do include at least 15 minutes of self-care to my day. As long as I am happy at the end of the day, my self-care mission is complete because self-care is about giving love to yourself and making yourself comfortable.

In today’s post, I wanted to share with you what exactly self-care is, the history, the importance, the different types of self-care and some tips on how to start practicing self-care today.

Self-care can include meditating to relax your mind, giving yourself a spa day to cleanse your skin or by going out for a long walk to clear your head of negativity. Anything that promotes good health for yourself is a way of practicing self-care.

Each week in my Club Vibester Newsletter, I send out Self-Care Challenge. As you already know, there are many ways to self-care, and within each of my newsletters, I will be exploring all the ways you can do self-care for every day of the week.  It ranges from skincare routines, a healthy lifestyle, and positive mindsets challenges. Self-Care 101

    What is self-care?

It’s the practice of giving love to yourself by taking care of your body, mind, and soul. It’s about maintaining good health for all parts of yourself.

    History of Self-care

According to Aisha Harris, a Slate culture writer, the “concept” of self-care had always been around, but it wasn’t until 2016 when it officially became a mainstream concept.

Self-care initially caught on as a medical concept. Doctors have long discussed it as a way for patients to treat themselves and exercise healthy habits, most often under the guidance of a health professional. Before the late 1960s and early 1970s, these patients were usually mentally ill and older adults who required long-term care and otherwise had little autonomy. Later, academics began to look for ways for workers in more high-risk and emotionally daunting professions—trauma therapists, social workers, EMTs, and so on—to combat stress brought on by the job.

The belief driving this work was that one could not adequately take on the problems of others without taking care of oneself (by reading for pleasure or taking the occasional vacation, for instance)—a sentiment you still hear from activists today. And that applied not just to physical welfare but to mental and emotional health. – Slate.com

What is the importance of self-care?

It’s essential to practice good self-care as you need to be at your best if you want to accomplish your goals. Taking care of your mind, body, and soul lets you reach your fullest potential and have the abilities to take on any challenge.

Inadequate self-care can lead to poor health, a negative mindset, and a sense of un-accomplishment. It’s the practice of knowing you are important and worth anything you deserve.

What are the different types of Self-Care?

I found a lot of resources mentioning many types of self-care, but the ones I’m going to talk about cover all the sources.

There are six types of self-care: Emotional, Practical, Physical, Mental, Social, and Spiritual, according to everyaction.com.

Each one focus on a different part of yourself.

    • Emotional Self-Care would include writing in a journal or creating artwork.
    • Practical Self-Care would be cleaning your room or budgeting.
    • Physical Self-Care includes working out or eating a healthy diet.
    • Mental Self-Care could be solving a hard puzzle or doing an activity that challenges the mind.
    • Social Self-Care would be spending time with friends or making time to help others.
    • Spiritual Self-Care is practiced by meditating or spending time in nature.

Grab my meditation tracking sheet in the library!

    How to start self-care?

Start your self-care by looking at your life now, and seeing where you might be lacking. Make a plan and follow it to cover all six areas as often as possible. Make time in the mornings to meditate, have lunch with friends and family, go to a museum, or set a budget for yourself. All of these are great ways of starting your self-care, and you can add them to your daily routine.

5 Self-care practices for better wellness

    1. Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep each day. According to healthline.com, getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep each day lowers your chances of having heart disease and diabetes.

    2. Start cooking your meals and eating out less. When creating meals at home, you are giving love to your food by preparing it properly and wanting to make something delicious.

    3. Create a budget and stick to it. Write down all your expense each month and next to it write down your total income each month. See your spending versus your income and find ways to lower your costs so that each month you have extra money to save for a big trip or some other desired expense.

    4. Read more books. If you can take time to read a book, you can relax your mind from all the stresses of the world. Give your body a chance to recharge and let your imagination explore the book you are reading.

    5. Working out every day, even for 5 minutes, is a great way to practice self-care. One of the best things you can do for yourself is exercising, which can include taking a walk, doing some lunges, or going all out at the gym. Doing exercises makes sure your body is healthy and working correctly to help promote better wellness.

    What are some Self-care Tips?

Make it part of your routine and write it down. When you write things down, you are more likely to follow through with it than just saying you will do it. If you are going to meditate in the morning, set your alarm a little earlier and follow through every day, so it becomes a habit.

Another tip could be having an accountability partner. Let a co-worker, friends or family member know that you are trying to start taking better care of yourself and check in with them every so often to see if you are doing the tasks you said you are. According to PennState, having an accountability partner is “hugely beneficial for meeting and following health goals.” By just having another person that will hold you accountable to your actions makes you that much more likely to follow through with your self-care.

    Daily self-care checklist

Make a checklist of all the self-care goals you have for the day and mark them off as you go through them. You will start to feel a sense of accomplishment and want to get more items to check off your list. Makes sure to celebrate your success as this further installs the idea of completing your checklist and practicing better self-care.

    When is International Self-Care Day?

International SelfCare Day (ISD), is on the 24th of July, it provides a focus and opportunity to raise the profile of healthy lifestyle selfcare programs around the world.

What are some Coconut Oil benefits for your skin?

Coconut oil is made through a process called Cold-pressing or expeller-pressing where dried coconut meat is pressed down, and fats are extracted out. According to The Beauty Geek’s Guide To Skin Care Cold-pressed oil has higher levels of antioxidants and antibacterial properties. This helps to increase elasticity, prevents breakouts, and nourish the skin through its essential fatty acids.

Is it okay to drink Coconut Milk?

Coconut milk is a combination of the coconut meat and water blended up. It contains vitamins E, K, B Complex and C, amino acids, minerals, and essential fatty acids according to The Beauty Geek’s Guide To Skin Care. The great things about coconut milk are that it helps to fight the appearance of wrinkles, nourishes skin for deep hydration, and combats bacteria. It’s best to substitute coconut milk in drinks in moderation and not drink straight out of glass due to the high levels of saturated fats.

What are the benefits of Coconut Water?

How to use Coconut Oil into your daily routine?

Coconut oil is great to add to hair, face and body masks. Just take a Tbs at a time and apply where desired. The oils will help to hydrate your skin or hair and protect it from free radicals. The antioxidants fight free radicals in your skin while the nourishing essential fatty acids make for more lush and lively looking hair. Using coconut oil in a scrub will provide the same benefits as in a mask while still giving that powerful hydration effect.
